SVEA Insurance is one of the largest farm mutuals in Illinois. This company was started by Swedes in and around the Bishop Hill area in the mid 19th century. Last week, I was poking around in our collection area and discovered a copy of SVEA original bylaws, created in 1868. A photograph of these bylaws is shown with this post.
The Heritage has a variety of artifacts about our region’s history. Come on over to the Steeple Building some time and check out the exhibits displaying these pieces of local history.
