During the 2022 Jordbruksdagarna, Swedish songwriter and signer Johan Johansson will be performing songs about Swedish history. This free one-hour concert will occur at 10 a.m. in the Steeple Building Museum on Saturday September 24 only.
For the 2022 Jordbruksdagarna, the BHHA Acting Troupe will perform for the first time their Bishop Hill Colony history skit To America at the Steeple Building Museum starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday September 24. The skit takes place in Halsingland, Sweden, the year of 1846, when the first Bishop Hill Colony’s Janssonists were preparing to depart their homeland and come to America for freedoms they were pursuing. As only these three Swedish women can do, they will share their trials of life in their homeland, what to expect in the new country, and tears for what they are leaving to never see again. They are committed to follow their leader, Erik Jansson, to America and Bishop Hill. This is a free activity open to the public.
During the 2022 Jordbruksdagarna, Lilly Setterdahl will be having a book signing on the porch of the Steeple Building from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday September 24 only. After many previous books, Lilly Setterdahl has turned to another topic and authored the ultimate Swedish crime story. Just as Sweden appears in the national news, the publisher Nordstjernan releases the timely thought-provoking cyber thriller, UNTIL THE LIGHTS COME BACK ON, by Lilly Setterdahl. A hacker has cut the electric power to Sweden in the month of October. The protagonist works hard to destroy the hacker’s code until the hacker puts a stop to it. No one can imagine what the perpetrator plans to do next. One reviewer promises that that the book will keep “readers to the edges of their seats in suspense.”
The TriCo Equestrian Center will be offering pony rides from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. only. They will be located between the Carpenter Building and Blacksmith Shop on Christina Street. The cost is $10 per ride. A signed waiver is required, and helmets will be provided.
