As part of the 2023 Bishop Hill Chautauqua on August 26 at 4 p.m. by the park gazebo, there will be a Fika with the Chautauqua performers, sponsored by the Bishop Hill Heritage Association. Fika is a Swedish tradition of coffee and conversation; so light refreshments will be served. The audience is invited to ask questions of the performers about their historical character and their research of the character as you snack on cookies and drink coffee. This Fika is free and open to the public; no reservations are required. The rain location will be located at the Steeple Building Museum.
The 2023 Bishop Hill Chautauqua is a 2-day historical re-enactment brought to life through storytelling and music on August 26 and 27 in historic Bishop Hill IL. Spend the weekend in the village park with several characters from our past such as Bob Dylan, Abraham Lincoln, Jenny Lind, Carl Sandberg and many more. Saturday afternoon, enjoy Fika with some of the performers. Saturday evening, enjoy a dinner theater at P.L. Johnson. Event is free and open to the public.
