As part of Bishop Hill’s Festival of the Arts, a Wheat Weaving Demonstration and Sale will be held in the Steeple Building from 11am to 4pm on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. A member of the Illinois Association of Wheat Weavers will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate plaiting techniques used to transform wheat straw into delicate works of art. Recent works will be displayed and available to purchase.

Weaving wheat has evolved worldwide over thousands of years.
