Walnut trees have been a big part of Bishop Hill Colony history. Walnut was used in furniture making, such as in the making of Colony Bible tables, and building construction. To maintain this part of Colony history, the BHHA recently planted 3 new walnut samplings. They are located on the Dairy Building lot on the west side, the Krans Livery Stable Museum corner and the back corner of the Colony Store lot. By taking this action, we will be able to ensure there are walnut trees in Bishop Hill for generations to come.
