For this week’s look at the BHHA Collection, we will view Troil silver spoons and the Jacobson Family.  Erik Troil was a goldsmith for the Bishop Hill Colony. He was known for making gold rings, broach-type pins, and silver spoons. The Jacobson family owned several Troil silver spoons, which are on display at the Steeple Building and shown below.

In a May 23, 1910 letter to her daughter Helen, Mrs. Hannah Jacobson apparently “lost” these silver spoons. Visit the 2nd floor Jacobson Display at the Steeple Building Museum to find out what happened to these spoons.
