The Heritage is Publishing a Book About Music and the Bishop Hill Colony

The book is called Music on the Prairies  The Janssonist Tune-Book written by Alan Mauritz Swanson.  Alan is a composer and academic who has taught at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.  This book is based on the discovery in the BHHA archives of a tune-book belonging to Christine Berglund.  With this discovery, we now have the music to go along with Eric Janson’s hymns.  Music on the Prairies The Janssonist Tune-Book is a 94 page book, with photographs of the songs.

This book is available for purchase at the Bishop Hill Colony Store.  The Barbro Osher Pro Suecia Foundation provided funding for publishing. Proceeds from these book sales will be used to support BHHA activities.
