On Friday September 5, the Bishop Hill Heritage Association rededicated two of its Bishop Hill Colony Buildings: the 1854 Steeple Building and the 1853 Colony Store. Both of these pre-Civil War buildings have extensive exterior work done over the past several years costing a total of $690,000. The rededication ceremony celebrated the completion of these two restoration projects and acknowledged the support provided by various individuals and organizations. Over sixty people attended the formal ceremony and open house. Rick Collins of Trillium Dell Timberworks summarized the repairs that were done on the Steeple Building, while Harvey Johnson of Triangle Construction reviewed the work completed on the Colony Store. Several speakers, including State Representative Donald Moffitt, and State Senator Darin LaHood, praised the restoration work done on these two historic buildings.
