In Sweden, it is a Christmas tradition to put aside the last sheaf of grain from the harvest, known as the Julkarve or the Christmas sheaf. The Julkarve would then be hung outside the home on Christmas Eve for the birds to feed on. According to legend, if many birds come, a good crop the next year will follow.
The BHHA has recreated that tradition by creating Swedish birdfeeders using our own broomcorn and sorghum. They are being sold at the Colony Store for $15 each, while supplies last. All proceeds benefit BHHA projects. These Swedish birdfeeders would make a unique Christmas gift!
