On Saturday October 23, John E. Norton, noted Swedish historian and translator, will present a program about Eric Janson, the founder of the Bishop Hill Colony. Mr. Norton has a Master’s Degree in American Studies from the University of Minnesota, with emphasis on immigration to North America. He also has served as an officer and board member of the Bishop Hill Heritage Association. In this presentation, Mr. Norton will focus on the last two letters Janson wrote from St. Louis to the Bishop Hill Colonists.
