For Clay and Fiber Fest on August 13 and 14 2016, the Bishop Hill Heritage Association is hosting not one, not two, but three activities as part of this annual festival in Bishop Hill, IL.

The Vikings are coming to Bishop Hill on Saturday, August 13th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, August 14th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the village park. This Nordic Market will present everyday scenes from the Viking Age. It will feature costumed interpreters in an accurate Anglo-Scandinavian encampment of the eleventh century. Demonstrations will be held on textiles, gaming, woodworking, book binding, moneying and more, from their encampment in the Village Park. This free encampment is by Micel Folcland.

At the same time each day, free wheat weaving demonstrations by the Illinois Association of Wheat Weavers will be held in the Steeple Building Museum, where you will be taught techniques on transforming wheat straw into delicate works of art. Recent works will be displayed and will be available to purchase.

From 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, finish your day with ice cream and pie with a drink, for just $5 at the Pie in the Park ice cream social in the village park. Proceeds from this fundraiser support BHHA activities.
