On Saturday September 28 at noon between the Carpenter Building and the Steeple Building, Johan Johansson, a songwriter and a folksinger from Uppsala, Sweden, will be performing a one hour concert. This concert is free and open to the public.

In Sweden, he is a member of a band called StegVis, and in 2018, they released a record “Över Atlanten” with songs about the Swedes following Eric Janson to Bishop Hill in the 19th century. Johan’s music can be categorized as the Swedish singer song writing tradition called “visa” where the storytelling and lyrics are in focus. The themes of his songs will be mostly Swedish history, with emphasis on the Swedish emigration to America.
