This coming Saturday is the Bishop Hill Midsommar Music Festival. Each day this week, we will highlight one of the musical performances from this festival. Today, we are showcasing Jazz on the Side, who will be performing at 2 p.m. in the park:
We are Jazz on the Side, an eclectic group of people who share a passion for music with a repertoire that includes big band standards and some jazz as well. Jazz on the Side is sponsored by the Kewanee, IL Chamber of Commerce and includes people from Henry, Stark, Knox and Peoria Counties. Many are music educators, and a few play professionally. We have an artist, a university administrator, a physical therapist, a farmer, a Lutheran minister and many other professions in our mix. The members range in age from high school to several Baby Boomers. The one thing we share is our desire to bring the joy of music to others. As our name indicates, playing music is something we do for fun. We hope that is evident in our performances and that our audiences enjoy our music as much as we enjoy bringing it to them.
