The Henry County Historical Society will celebrate its fifty year anniversary at an Open House on Sunday, June 30, from 1 to 4 pm at the Henry County Historical Museum at 202 South Park Street, in Bishop Hill, Illinois. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
The society was formed in 1963 when 125 citizens met at the Henry County Courthouse in Cambridge. For the first few years, historical items were displayed in the Bishop Hill Steeple Building. In 1981, society members bought the former Bishop Hill Elementary School to house their collection. The school features five classrooms and a gym. Displays of Henry County artifacts fill all the rooms.
The museum is opened daily from 10 am to 4 pm, May 1 through October 31. For more information, call 309-927-3528.
