This coming Saturday is the Bishop Hill Midsommar Music Festival. Each day this week, we will highlight one of the musical performances from this festival. Today, we are showcasing Hammer & Pick, who will be performing at 1 p.m.. in the park:
The folk music ensemble Hammer and Pick has been playing for audiences in Western Illinois since the 1980’s. This local group preforms old time music, gospel, railroad ballads, Blues, Celtic, Civil War, and traditional dance music. Jon Wagner plays hammered dulcimer, banjo, guitar and harmonica, Jan Sams plays guitar and bass, John Heasly adds guitar and harmonica, and Wendy Anderson graces us with her fiddling as we all join in singing.
