The BHHA is sponsoring the third annual Collectors Weekend on Saturday October 22 and Sunday October 23, 2016. What is Collectors Weekend? For one weekend only at the Steeple Building Museum in Bishop Hill, antique and vintage items of all shapes, sizes, and topics will be displayed by local residents. Objects on display will be dolls, kitchen utensils, and much more. These items are not for sale but for display only. The Steeple Building Museum will be open Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday noon to 4 p.m. The museum is located at 103 North Bishop Hill Street. Admission is free but donations are gratefully accepted.
Besides Collectors Weekend, there are several other activities occurring in Bishop Hill:
- Preservation Advice: On Saturday October 22, a trained archivist, with 10 years of experience working in museums and conducting artifact preservation, will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the VASA National Archives to provide advice on caring for your family treasures. You can do your own light conservation work at this event for cost of materials. The VASA Archives is located at 109 South Bishop Hill Street.
- Rug Hook-in: On Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dairy Building, there will be a Rug Hook-In. Watch and learn more about the craft of rug hooking. Join in if you wish. There is no charge. Call 309 927-3008 for more details. The Dairy Building is located at 410 North Erickson Street.
- Fall Fashion Show: Entwined will be partnering with P.L. Johnson’s Dining Room to bring you a Falla Mode (Fall fashion) style show and luncheon on October 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.at P.L’s. Come and enjoy delicious Swedish fare while getting some inspiration for your cold weather wardrobe! You might even win one of the give-a-ways or raffle drawings so hurry and reserve your spot by calling 309-927-3885! (Reservations requested, but not required). P.L.
