Bishop Hill is once again the back drop for the annual Clay and Fiber Festival hosted by the Prairie Arts Center.  Mark your calendars for August 17 and 18.  The festival begins at 10 am both days and runs until 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday.  The event has something for everyone. Watch potters create work at the wheel and see a variety of firing methods.  See other fine artists work at their talents, too.  As always, there will be a make and take project for the youngsters.  The brick oven will be roaring again this year baking up tasty pizza treats for the visitors to sample.

This year’s festival will once again have the soup supper and will be sponsored by local Bishop Hill businesses.  Buy tickets at the Prairie Arts Center in advance.  Buy a bowl of soup and keep the handmade pottery bowl created by any of the potters from the event.

One of the big hits of the weekend will be the Pie and Ice Cream Social, hosted by the Bishop Hill Heritage Association. The Pie in the Park is from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday only.

Visitors to the event will be able to browse through the many artisan booths. Limited booth space is available for artisans specializing in artistic handmade wares.  Visitors are also encouraged to see our museums, shop in local businesses, and enjoy a great dining experience in one of our restaurants.  Historic Bishop Hill is fun for the entire family.  Come and enjoy the whole day.  For more information, call 309 927-3008.
