As part of Bishop Hill’s celebration of the Illinois Bicentennial, the Bishop Hill Heritage Association has organized a Civil War Day for Saturday May 26. There will be Union and Confederate encampments in the village park all day, with programs occurring throughout the day. All these programs are free and open to the public, due to the generous support of our sponsors, such as Community State Bank and the Galesburg Community Foundation. Some of the programs include an artillery demonstration, a speech by General “Black Jack” Logan, medical demonstrations, Civil War songs concerts, book sale by Civil War Fathers author Tim Pletkovich, and of course, battles.
