Back during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, Chautauqua were part of small town life.  Before harvest time, towns like Geneseo, Kewanee, Galva, and Bishop Hill would host lectures, debates, musical acts, and other performances for several days of culture and entertainment.

According to our records, the last Chautauqua held in Bishop Hill was in 1920.  The Heritage is proud to bring back this American tradition by sponsoring a Chautauqua on Saturday, Sept 7 in the village park.   The entertainment begins at 1 pm and last into the evening hours.  Call 309 927-3899 for more details or check the Calendar page of this website (found under News/Events section).
