Black Hawk Pipes and Drums will be performing at 10 a.m. Saturday June 24th at the village park gazebo as part of our 2023 Bishop Hill Midsommar Music Festival. The concert is free and open to the public. The following is the bio about the Black Hawk Pipes and Drums:
THE BAND began in 2000 under the initial sponsorship of the Scottish American Society of the Quad Cities, and we perform in parades, concerts, and special events in the Iowa/Illinois Quad Cities and other surrounding communities.
WE ARE a non-competition band but do maintain membership in regional and national pipe and drum organizations to allow our members the opportunity to qualify for individual and group competitions.
OUR MEMBERS range in talent from the novice (beginner) to professional competition grade and are always looking to “bring up” those interested in playing either the pipes or drums. We offer free lessons to anyone interested in learning bagpipes or drums. Please contact our new member coordinator on the contact page.
OUR MUSIC consists of many of the traditional 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, and 6/8 marches along with our own mixture of reels, jigs, hornpipes, strathspeys, and slow airs.
WE PERFORM in parades, concerts, and special services both indoor and out. Please view our schedule of events – we have a lot going on each year and look forward to you enjoying the Highland Bagpipes and Drums with us. At some venues we conduct workshops for those interested in either the pipes or drums. If you are interested in hiring the our band, please contact our band manager on the contact page.
OUR TARTAN is the Scottish Blackwatch.
