This coming Saturday is the Bishop Hill Midsommar Music Festival.  Each day this week, we will highlight one of the musical performances from this festival.  Today, we are showcasing Black Hawk Pipes & Drums, who will be performing at 11 a.m. in the park:

The history of Black Hawk Pipes and Drums of the Quad Cities

THE BAND began in 2000 under the initial sponsorship of the Scottish American Society of the Quad Cities, and we perform in parades, concerts, and special events in the Iowa/Illinois Quad Cities and other surrounding communities.

WE ARE a non-competition band but do maintain membership in regional and national pipe and drum organizations to allow our members the opportunity to qualify for individual and group competitions.

OUR MEMBERS range in talent from the novice (beginner) to professional competition grade and are always looking to “bring up” those interested in playing either the pipes or drums.  We offer free lessons to anyone interested in learning bagpipes or drums.

OUR MUSIC consists of many of the traditional 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, and 6/8 marches along with our own mixture of reels, jigs, hornpipes, strathspeys, and slow airs.

Please join us for their free performance on Saturday June 26.  Below is a press release with more information about this year’s Bishop Hill Midsommar Music Schedule:
