This year’s Bishop Hill Midsommar Festival will be a 2 day festival on June 24 and 25.  Over the next couple of months, the BHHA will be highlighting the performers of this festival.

On Sunday June 24 at 11 a.m. in the village park, Prairie Folklore Theatre will perform “An Encounter With the Green Man: A Celtic Summer Solstice Celebration” This unique program features storyteller and poet Brian “Fox” Ellis, and singer songwriter Barry Cloyd. Through ancient stories and modern poetry, original music and traditional folk tunes we celebrate our connections to the natural rhythms at the turning of the seasons. From Jethro Tull’s “Jack in The Green” to the old English ballad, “John Barley Corn Must Die’, from Finn MacCoul’s poem “In Praise of Summer” to William Butler Yeat’s “Song of the Wandering Angus,” this delightful blending of old and new is sure to warm a smile, melting away the vestiges of winter and welcoming the return of the longest days!

This performance will last about 70 minutes and is free and open to the public.  For more information about the Midsommar Music Festival and other events, please contact the BHHA at 309 927-3899 or at bhha@mymctc.net
