Every year, Galesburg Community Foundation awards grants to regional nonprofits through its annual grant cycle, The Turnout. This year, 37 nonprofit organizations who submitted proposals were fully funded.
Grants for The Turnout come from the Community Foundation’s unrestricted Impact Fund and Field of Interest Funds along with contributions from generous community donors who hold Donor Advised Funds at the Community Foundation.
“Though The Turnout, nonprofits have the chance to share their stories and engage with individuals who are eager to contribute and make a difference in their community,” said Jillian Isaacson, Director of Grants & Programs at the Community Foundation.
Donor Advisors Increase Gifts to Nonprofits
This year, more than $384,000 was awarded to the nonprofits, the largest amount in the history of the annual grant cycle. This was thanks to donors with funds at the Community Foundation.
“I think that the grant requests from nonprofits really resonated with our donors,” said Sarah Grant, Community Foundation Director of Development. “While individuals and families with Donor Advised Funds can support causes throughout the year, The Turnout offers them a unique opportunity to see the many needs in the region, all in one place.”
