As part of the 2023 Bishop Hill Chautauqua, North Carolina storyteller and actress Becky Stone will portray Underground Railroad Conductor Harriet Tubman. Her performance will start at 1 p.m. at the park gazebo in Bishop Hill, IL. “They are, as they say in Greenville, ‘history that will not stay in a book.’ I draw on my actor training and my experience as a storyteller to bring these women to life as I teach through story and personal interaction.” – Becky Stone
The 2023 Bishop Hill Chautauqua is a 2-day historical re-enactment brought to life through storytelling and music on August 26 and 27 in historic Bishop Hill IL. Spend the weekend in the village park with several characters from our past such as Bob Dylan, Abraham Lincoln, Jenny Lind, Carl Sandberg and many more. Saturday afternoon, enjoy Fika with some of the performers. Saturday evening, enjoy a dinner theater at P.L. Johnson. Event is free and open to the public.
