As part of the 2025 Bishop Hill Chautauqua, join author and historian Brian “Fox” Ellis for a walking tour through Bishop Hill, Illinois. This 75 minute tour starts at the park gazebo at 9 a.m. Hear the touching, tragic, and inspiring stories of the immigrants who created this Utopia on the Prairie. Weaving quotes from the founders with Swedish folk tunes, this tour is both educational and entertaining. The tour is free but donations are welcomed. No reservations are necessary.
The 2025 Bishop Hill Chautauqua is a historical re-enactment brought to life through storytelling and music on August 9. Spend the day in the village park with several characters from our past such as Carl Sandburg. Saturday afternoon, enjoy Fika (coffee and cookies) with some of the performers. Event is free and open to the public. Please bring a lawn chair. For more information, contact the Bishop Hill Heritage Association at 309 927-3899 or at bhha@mymctc.net.
