For this year’s Chautauqua on August 26 and 27, we have decided to bring back the most popular performers from the past ten Bishop Hill Chautauquas and have them perform for you this year. The theme of the performances on Saturday August 24th theme is American History. Performing that day are Barry Cloyd as Carl Sandburg, Poet of the People; Becky Stone as Harriet Tubman; Fritz Klein as President Abraham Lincoln; and Brian “Fox” Ellis as Meriwether Lewis. Also on that Saturday, we will have an afternoon Fika (coffee) in the park with our Chautauqua performers and later that evening, a dinner theater at P.L. Johnson’s.
On Sunday August 25, the theme is World Changers. Performing that day are Grandmother Corn with Jo Lakota and the Eagle Ridge Drum; Paula Van Kuren as Jenny Lind, the Swedish Nightingale; Kevin Radaker as Prime Minister Winston Churchill; and Danny Fox as singer Bob Dylan.
