Join the Bishop Hill State Historic Site for a nondenominational church service Christmas morning at the restored Colony Church. Since 1970, the service has been a tradition in Bishop Hill to reaffirm the community’s Swedish heritage. The event will feature traditional hymns played on a pump organ. Visitors are encouraged to dress warm. Coffee and rusks will be available in the Colony Church Museum after the one hour service, which starts at 6 a.m. The Colony Church is located at 101 Maiden Lane.
There is no cost to attend this event. Please note that the Colony Church and rest of Bishop Hill State Historic Site will be closed after 8 a.m. so staff can enjoy the rest of the holiday with their families.
