The Queen of Lights, the Lucia Bride, or Saint Lucia is known by many names in many lands. The first Lucia, in Sicily, was martyred for her Christian faith. Years later, she was made a saint. In Swedish tradition, the eldest daughter of the family, at early dawn during the Christmas season, appears wearing a white gown with a red sash and a crown of lighted candles on her head, bringing hot coffee and sweet saffron buns to every member of the household.
