Dear potential Tomten (Swedish elves) and parents,

Every year we continually look for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade boys and girls who would like to be Tomten for Bishop Hill’s Christmas Market.

What do Tomten do?

Tomten basically walk around Bishop Hill shaking hands with tourists and look through windows, peek around corners etc. and look a little mischievous. Each shift is 2 hours. We have outfits for them with red caps and a grey outfit which they wear. They many times wear beards and walk around with the Julbock.

If you are interested in having your child be a Tomten, call Todd DeDecker at the Steeple Building museum at (309) 927-3899 or email bhha@mymctc.net asap. Each child will receive a $5 gift certificate from the Colony Store for helping us out.

Tomten will meet at the Steeple Building in town (the building with the clock tower) 15 min. before your shift begins. Tomten costumes are placed over your clothes. Thank you for your help!
