Jazz on the Side will be performing at 2 p.m. this Saturday at the Bishop Hill Park as part of our Midsommar Music Festival. The concert is fee and open to the public. The following is a description of the group from their Facebook Page:
We are Jazz on the Side, an eclectic group of people who share a passion for music with a repertoire that includes big band standards and some jazz as well. Jazz on the Side is sponsored by the Kewanee, IL Chamber of Commerce and includes people from Henry, Stark, Knox and Peoria Counties. Many are music educators, and a few play professionally. We have an artist, a university administrator, a physical therapist, a farmer, a Lutheran minister and many other professions in our mix. The members range in age from high school to several Baby Boomers. The one thing we share is our desire to bring the joy of music to others. As our name indicates, playing music is something we do for fun. We hope that is evident in our performances and that our audiences enjoy our music as much as we enjoy bringing it to them.
