The BHHA currently owns and maintains 5 Colony buildings, as well as several other building. In the past decade or so, the Heritage has done major restoration projects on all of the Colony buildings. However, once the major project is done, there is always yearly maintenance to keep these pre-Civil War buildings in great shape. By doing this annual maintenance, we stop little issues from becoming larger ones thus extending the lifespan of these historic buildings.
This day to day work is done by several groups. Each week, we have volunteers come in to work on various projects. In the past month of so, they have been working on window sill repair and painting at the Steeple Building. We also have a part-time facilities manager, Heath Rodseth, who each week works on various maintenance issues. This winter, he has been doing window glazing at the Steeple Building and Colony Store, among many other things. Finally, when there are repairs beyond our expertise, we hire specialists (carpenters, masons, plasterers, etc.) to do the job.
All of these projects would not be possible without memberships, donations, grants, and other funding. Thank you all for your support! Photographs of the volunteers and Heath working on past projects are shown below. Special thanks to them for all their hard work!
