BHHA and Giving Tuesday

Today is 2022 Giving Tuesday.  Giving Tuesday is an opportunity for people around the world to come together through generosity in all its forms by sharing acts of kindness and giving their voice, time, money, goods, and advocacy to support communities and causes.  If you are looking for a good cause to donate money to, please consider the Bishop Hill Heritage Association.

The mission of the BHHA is to preserve the heritage and legacy of the Bishop Hill Colony.  The Bishop Hill Colony was started by Swedish immigrants, led by Eric Janson, in 1846.  These immigrants left Sweden to escape religious persecution and to seek economic opportunities in the U.S.  In the wilderness of western Illinois, they built the village of Bishop Hill from scratch.  Today, it is not only a state historic site but also a national historic landmark.
