The mission of the BHHA is to preserve the heritage and legacy of the Bishop Hill Colony.  The Bishop Hill Colony was started by Swedish immigrants, led by Eric Janson, in 1846.  These immigrants left Sweden to escape religious persecution and to seek economic opportunities in the U.S.  In the wilderness of western Illinois, they built the village of Bishop Hill from scratch.  Today, it is not only a state historic site but also a national historic landmark.
If you wish to preserve this history, please donate to the Heritage.  It is as simple as going to https://bishophillheritage.org/contribute/donate/ and donating thru PayPal.  Thank you for your support!
